Plan Outline

I. The Plan

To enlist ALL the congregations, within a city, to put one (1) representative a day (preferable 12 different members) on a selected street conner, for 12 consecutive days, to show the availability and concern of the local churches to the needs (spiritually and physically) of their community. (Monday thru Saturday)

II. Purpose

  • 1. Make contact with the congregations more readily available.
  • 2. Demonstrate the unity of the Body of Christ.
  • 3. To see people come to faith and find their place in the family of God.
  • 4. To see the city transformed.

III. Principle

  • 1. "The locusts have no King, yet go they forth all of them by bands" Pro 30:24 (called "exceeding wise").
  • 2. Jesus said; "Go into the highways and byways and compel them to come in" (Mt 22:9)
  • 3. Jesus said; "If I be lifted up I'll draw all men unto myself" (Jn 12:32)
  • 4. The fields are white unto harvest but the laborers are few (Lk 10:2)
  • 5. He chose 12, then another 70, then 120, 3000, 5000

IV. Implementation

A. Video presentation for city leaders and chief of police and the media.
1. Local people involved, not outsiders, not just one or a few congregations but many.
2. Motive is to help relive some of the stress on the city.
3. Expectation is that crime will decrease and brotherly love will increase, people's needs will be met.
4. Our city and nations problems are moral and spiritual, the local churches have the Answer!

B. Phone teams to contact city pastors with online presentation to encourage involvement months before.
1. Explain the simplicity of the Jesus Plan.
2. Give assurance that there's absolutely no design to start any new congregations or influence anyone to a different persuasion.
3. Point out the benefit of members experiencing a renewed burden for their community by exposure to the streets, and how their feedback will positively effect the whole flock encouraging others to be more bold in their witness.
4. Pray that each congregation will be blessed with many new visitors.
5. Promote cooperation among the many congregations to reach out to the community in such numbers and consistency, as to accomplish what no one congregation could do alone, regardless of size.
6. Old Army saying "work load distribution", "many hands make light work".

C. Provide video presentation for pastors & congregation to encourage participation and congregational sign up sheet (1 person per day for 12 days, plus a few back ups).

D. What is needed from each congregation?
1. 1 person per day for 12 days.
2. Bring Big Bible.
3. Big Smile, positive attitude (expect a little razzing).

E. The logistics, of street conner selection:
1. With enough participation, down town and major artery streets can be covered.
2. Street corners selected from "street corner page" on a first come first severed basis. Click on the red dot!
3. Challenge for workers:
a. Going out to project Christ's presence.
b. Going out to make friends of sinners.
c. Going out to invite new people to your church.
d. Not to teach or preach theology.
e. Just share personal testimony, if opportunity arises.

F. Daily schedule when the Jesus Plan starts
1. Arrive at 10:00 am at your churches designated location.
2. Stand peacefully for Jesus with Bible in hand, smile, wave, pray, make your presence known.
3. Have pen and paper to take notes of needs, prayer requests, Phone#, names, address, etc.
4. Be sure to bring water, lunch, if standing is a problem. A collapsible stool, if raining, an umbrella.
5. Be mindful of your fellow workers on the other 3 corners, watch for there safety, well being (cell phone advised).

G. End of 12 day Jesus Plan, pastor's luncheon to discuss value of outreach.

This simple "Jesus Plan" among other things, is intended to dispel the widely held view of the local unchurched community and media, that the local congregations and groups are hopelessly divided and never work together. By systematically going out into the "highways and byways" as Jesus said, the local family of God becomes visible.(90% of all church activity is inside our buildings) Our Christian unity, which we have, by virtue of being followers of Christ, can then be clearly seen by those who have believed otherwise. "I pray they may be one, that the world will believe thou hast sent me" (Jesus) Jn 17
